GMT or BST, CST or CDT? Daylight saving explained
GMT (UTC+0) is UK winter time; from late March to late October the UK is on BST (UTC+1). People who say “GMT” for a London meeting usually mean UK time, so this page uses London time. If you mean GMT as a fixed UTC+0 all year, it is the same as UTC (and that is how the type-a-time box reads the word “GMT”; type “London” for UK time).
CST (UTC−6) is the winter name and CDT (UTC−5) the summer name. “CST” usually means local Central time (Chicago, Dallas, Houston) whatever the season, so MeetETA reads it that way and handles daylight saving for the date you pick.
Right now London is on BST, UTC+1 and Chicago is on CDT, UTC−5 (the clocks at the top of the page always show the live values).
How the gap changes during the year
Chicago is 6 hours behind London for most of the year. For a few weeks it is 5 h, because the two sides change their clocks on different dates.
