GMT or BST, PST or PDT? Daylight saving explained
GMT (UTC+0) is UK winter time; from late March to late October the UK is on BST (UTC+1). People who say “GMT” for a London meeting usually mean UK time, so this page uses London time. If you mean GMT as a fixed UTC+0 all year, it is the same as UTC (and that is how the type-a-time box reads the word “GMT”; type “London” for UK time).
PST (UTC−8) is the winter name and PDT (UTC−7) the summer name. People usually write “PST” all year and mean local Pacific time (Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle), so MeetETA reads it that way and handles daylight saving for you.
Right now London is on BST, UTC+1 and Los Angeles is on PDT, UTC−7 (the clocks at the top of the page always show the live values).
How the gap changes during the year
Los Angeles is 8 hours behind London for most of the year. For a few weeks it is 7 h, because the two sides change their clocks on different dates.
